About Japan
Japan consists of over 6,000 islands and extends approximately 3,000 kilometers (1,860 miles) from north to south, offering a wide range of climates and landscapes. From the northern tip of Hokkaido, where winter lasts more than half of the year, to the southern tip of Okinawa, with its sub-tropical climate, the four seasons offer beautiful and diverse natural surroundings. Japan is also known for the modern look with skyscrapers of major cities, as well as the authentic Japanese look with its temples, shrines, castles, and gardens.
