Though the role of Chairman of Japan Film Commission is a great challenge for me, I hope that my experience as Vice-Chairman of the organization as well as board director of organizations such as AFCI (Association of Film Commissioners International) and AFCNet (Asian Film Commissions Network) will enable me to contribute to the development of the organization.

Born in Osaka, Mako grew up in the U.S.A. and Japan. After graduating from college, she worked in TV and radio production, while also working as an interpreter and radio DJ. After serving as Director of Kobe Film Office for 16 years from 2000, she retired in 2016 to take the position of the organization's Advisor. Mako's experience include vice-president of Japan Film Commission Promotion Council (2001-2009), board director of AFCI (2001-2003), founder and board director of AFCNet (2004-2009), and Chairperson of Hyogo Location Support Network (2006-present). She served as Vice-Chairperson of Japan Film Commission for 7 years and became Chairperson in October of 2016. In addition, she is currently teaching at 2 universities in Kobe.
